Last night H was doing his zoomies and suddenly yelped in pain. We checked him all out and couldn't find any tender spots, but he was shaking and acting very weird. He went on his walks and walked fine last night but wouldn't sleep with us and was acting scared and uncomfortable.

Fast forward to early this morning, I tried to take him out and he couldn't take more than a few steps with sitting down and tucking his hind end under himself. Still shaking and hind end kind of wobbly.

Straight to the emergency vet. The vet says his knees are stable and it's too hard to tell what hurts since he's so stoic when they poke around. He's in for X-rays now. They think it might be his back.

I'm so scared, you guys. This dog is like my child and I can't imagine what I would do if he had a serious problem. Please send good thoughts our way [emoji24]

I am so sorry!! Radar and I are thinking of you and hoping for the best. It's so strange. Radar just did something similar. He was playing and suddenly didn't want to walk. I have been carrying him up and down the stairs and he hasn't been jumping or hopping for any reason. After a few days of enforced quiet today he's back to normal. I am hoping H just tweaked his back and rest and maybe a really good pain med will make it all better.

Thank you! I really have no idea what happened, he was running on a straightaway that's carpet (so he didn't slip on the hardwood) and just made the most horrible yelp/screaming noise. I feel so bad I didn't take him in last night but we just thought he was freaked out since he was walking fine. They said they'll likely give us some anti inflammatories and pain meds, but we don't know yet since he's still back having X-rays. Knowing him I'm sure he's giving them a heck of a time with that since he's such a big chicken!

Hudson why are you scaring your Mommy like this!?

Keep us updated!

I'm scared with you! [emoji173]️[emoji24]

Okay here's what we know after X-rays. He has mild hip dysplasia. His knees are good. She thinks it's either soft tissue (he pulled something/strained, etc), a pinched nerve (though he still has full nerve function in his back legs), or disk disease. Or hip related. He's on anti inflammatories and pain killers and is basically on dog version of bed rest. If it doesn't get better as a soft tissue injury would, we will have to assume it's likely disk disease and go from there. He's home now and hiding under the bed. Breaks my heart.

Well let's hope it gets better and it's not disk disease! Poor guy! I hope he is back to normal soon!

I've pinched nerves, actually did it the other day. It heals quickly unless it's REALLY bad, at least for humans, so hopefully with the meds and rest he gets back to normal soon! [emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

We're sending positive thoughts for Hudson's speedy recovery!:angelheart:

I sure hope he heals quickly. I feel so terrible for him. I can't imagine what I will do if it's something serious. At least I can stay home with him all the time and monitor him. My poor baby [emoji24]

Oh noooo! Sorry to hear that :( Hopefully you have pet insurance!? Sending Hudson and your family postive vibes!

:( Poor baby. I hope it's just a pulled muscle or something. *Crossing my fingers*

Thank you. Yes luckily pet insurance was the first thing we did when we got him. So nice to be able to say without a second thought "do whatever you need, money is not an object" because of the insurance.

Thank you! I hope so too. Vet thinks disk disease is likely but I'm not so sure since it was such a quick onset and he strained himself. He's sleeping now and seems to be resting comfortably and isn't hiding from us anymore. My poor baby.

Thank goodness for that! All the best girl

I'm glad that he is comfortable and resting now. Poor baby.

Oh no Erika I'm so sorry. Poor Hudson. It's so hard when they are hurting and scared. I will think good thoughts for Hudson that he has a speedy recovery. Let us know how he is doing in a couple of days, I will be wondering.

Poor baby boy, hope he feels better soon, and it's just a soft tissue injury, so he will be up and around soon.

Oh NO!!!! I'm so so sorry to hear this news! As you know my Ollie is going through something similar. He isn't in pain but he has trouble walking and has little coordination of his hind quarters. He dragged his toes so much on our walk Sunday morning that he made his nail bleed! We go tomorrow to the specialist where they will do an MRI to see if it's disk related or if it's just his genetics and abnormal vertebra which we know he has.

I hope and pray it's not disk injury and just a pinched nerve or muscle/soft tissue injury. So so happy to hear you have insurance. I do to and if surgery is needed we are doing it. will cost 7K and 4 months recovery in a crate, but if it's going to give him better quality of life long term then it's worth it.

Erika, please know you and Hudson are in my prayers and I will be thinking of both of you! Please please keep us posted. I will be hoping for the best possible outcome for you both! :)

Kisses and Hugz!

Julie

We just took him out to pee and I almost cried. He's in so much pain and can hardly walk now. I don't know what to do, I'm beside myself.
