Cheli had surgery today

Glad he is back home and doing well. Thanks for sharing. Do they do the procedure with a laser? 2bullymama
I sometimes think Jake needs to have this done.

I sometimes think Jake needs to have this done.

Our vet uses both, but bases which technique he uses on the work to be done and the individual dog.... he did not use laser on Cheli

All I could think of was when Jennifer Grey got her nose job and no one would hire her because they didn't recognize her. Cheli still looks the same, so his employment opportunities should be fine. Hugs to you all :)

Haha!

I once had a pug named Crash who had some terrible eye troubles. The vet fixed them over the course of two surgeries. One of the surgeries removed excess hair follicles on the inside of his eyelids and the other removed his entire nose wrinkle, and made his eyes more almond-shaped (less bulgy). It was the canine equivalent of a facelift! He had maybe a hundred stitches, all told. I was worried I wouldn't recognize him, and that somehow he would look less like the purebred pug he was. Well, it took about a week for us to get used to the new look after his swelling went down, and that was it. He was just Crash. And no nose wrinkle to clean -- they can get a bit stinky in pugs. Given that he never had another eye ulcer after that, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Over the past month or two Cheli had been experiencing heightened bouts of sleep apnea so i took him in for an evaluation with our vet back in September. At the time, it was very hot and allergies were horrendous in our area so our vet wanted to wait and see if the cooler weather and less allergy related issue would be in play to see if the apena stopped.... well it did not.

Cheli had his palate and nares done when he was 2 years old so our vet wanted to check for scar tissue --- he called at 12:30 and stated his palate and saccules (spelling?) looked very good , but his nostrils had extra tissue formed and it was limiting his ability to get enough air which was causing the apena.

So, waiting on the call to say he is done and when we can pick him up

I just wanted to share so people know that even though you have this procedure done early, it is possible for it to impact them again down the road.

I'll post more pictures of the little guy once we pick him up tonight.View attachment 7251

Awww, poor guy! I hope he is doing better now!

No apnea since coming home. -- paws and fingers crossed it stays that way

That's great!!

Christine - how old is Cheli? We've been considering having Molly's nares done, but a little concerned about her age (6)....
