Hi guys! I am curious to hear the story behind your doggies names!! How you chose it and what it means to you, or who they're named after!

I will go first!

Banksy is a street artist, political activist, and film director. I have been a fan of him since I was a teenager. The coolest part about him is that his identity is unknown. His work is on streets, walls, bridges, etc. throughout cities all over the world.

Here are my 2 favorites by Banksy

I made a list of names for Isabelle... Taluluah, Mina and Isabelle (Issy) were the top 2.

We picked Isabelle and have never called her Issy once! She's Isa, Is (Eez), Roo, Rugaroo...

Titan we let our son name. I originally wanted a frenchie boy to name Gaston but it didn't click for me with him.

He's also deaf so we call him tons of different things. Titan, Fate, Su, Sosee, Boosee, it goes on and on LOL.

I have heard of Banksy the artist! There are some documentaries on him.

Well Jax's full name is Jackson Juju Bean. Jackson/Jax came from the TV show Sons of Anarchy after the main character. There was really no rhyme or reason for the Juju Bean other than we thought it sounded so funny and cute.

We were trying to come up with a different name that not many people have and my husband thought of Wally. I call him many other names but usually he's Wally Walnuts. He is Walter when he's bad, or as I say when he 'breaks bad' (aka Walter White). :D

I like the Banksy pics when I see them online.

I just finished watching SOA. Jax is much cuter than the actor. :)

So...
When I got Bentley I was with my ex. She "accidently" took the breeders keys. When I called him he told me to give it a few hours for the traffic to die down to bring them back. So finally while we got on the road we were thinking of good names. I mentioned something like "frenchies are as expensive as Bentley's. The Bentley of the dog world." and it hit us. That's a perfect name. So it stuck. His full registered name is Bentley Animal Nash.

Before we got Bambi, the breeder and I had emailed back and forth. In some posts she would refer to Bambi as "Bumblina" and in others it would appear as "Bambulina." So I just assumed her nickname was "Bambi." When we met the breeder, she told us Bambi's name was originally "Thumbelina" but she called her Lena. If I had thought about it, I wouldn't have named her Bambi, but it just fits her and that's who she was. I call her Pigglepuss, Pumpkin Pie, Peanut Butter, Missy Bam Bee, Tootsie Face, Goose Bear.

Great thread!

cnash, how'd you get "custody" of Bentley Animal?

I paid for everything, he lived with me... And because there was no way in hell he was leaving.

Buster had a series of names that didn't stick when we first got him. The breeder had named him Blake, the whole litter was named after people on THE VOICE. We stuck with the "B" name that fit him best.

Cheli is named after one of my boyfriend's favorite hockey players... Chris Chelios.

Cheli barely gets called by his name... Mostly he gets Bean or Stinker, but when Dad is mad he gets his full registration name ...Toews Esposito Chelios (all hockey players). and Cheli knows he did wrong

Haha now that everyone is telling nicknames I will too!!

We call banksy lil prince and little bear dog :) haha

bullmama I specifically made this post to say doggies and not frenchies so that you could tell us about your dogs name too :)

Hudson was originally supposed to be Weston. Everyone in my life was quietly like hmm that's cute...when they heard it. Then one day I randomly thought of Hudson and everyone was like it's perfect!!! So then I knew they all hated Weston lol so Hudson it was. He would've been Stella had we gotten a girl. My SO gets to name the next one and he has picked Henri, he pronounces it with a funny southern drawl/French accent combo and it's hilarious.

Hudson is rarely called Hudson. He goes by H, Huddie, Boogie Bear, Boogs, BBMB (stands for boogie boogie munchkin bear). Who knows where those all came from.

Yes, she was a big girl, all muscle. At one point she was 70 lbs, we go her down to 58, but she maintained around 60-62 for most of her life. Remember, she was not a Frecnhie, right?

I wanted a strong but girly name for my frenchy pup. We chose Xena as she's our little warrior princess (princess because she is spoilt...) lots of frenchies in the Uk seem to have what we would call old fashioned names for theirs. Xenas mum was called Doris there was also a Martha in the same house. Xenas KC name is Nobelicas Xena, suits her so well
