I FINALLY got Hotchkiss to the orthopedic specialist and he has stage 4 luxating patella in his right leg and stage 2 in his left. His left leg is the one that really bothers him so they recommend I have his left leg done first then after he heals do his right leg. He's not even two years old!! I know frenchies are prone to this but this young?! I told his breeder what they found and she said I'm the only person who has ever had this problem. I find it hard to believe that my dog is the only one out of multiple litters who has this issue. The vet said it was a confirmation issue so how is it my dog is the only one with it? I feel like she should at least help me alittle with the $5200 bill I'm about to incur to fix both his legs. At least I know whats wrong with him now and can get it fixed.

My breeder said my dog was the only one of hers who has ever gotten cherry eye too. Some breeders are just crap afterwards it seems :( she literally replied "k" when I said "Well I guess I'm just telling you for future reference then."

Sorry your little cutie has such a bad outcome! But after the surgeries he will be good as new! :)

I am sorry to hear about Hotchkiss' upcoming surgery, but I agree, at least you know what is wrong and how to correct it. Hotchkiss is a lucky pup to have you for a Mama! I've got to say I'm not surprised by your breeders comment.

I guess the (small) positive in this all is that he's still young - it'll be much easier on him at this age than it would be as an elder dog. He should bounce back fantastically and then he'll be in tip top shape. Give him lots of hugs and love from us!

so sorry this is the case.... sending you lots of prayers and positive thoughts for a quick recovery

I know it doesn't help. but at least you know what the problem is and can get him fixed. Too bad the breeder won't help you with some of the cost. That stinks.

Some breeders should be ashamed of themselves. I'm glad you know what's wrong and I wish him a speedy recovery! Hotchkiss is lucky to have you. :)

I'm so sorry; it is all consuming when they have issues. I'm glad Hotchkiss doesn't have spinal issues or something that is more worrisome and less correctible. Vet said that Bambi has stage 2 luxating patella. So far it hasn't manifested other than her stretching her leg out from time to time. Good luck.
