Hi All,

I can't seem to find a good edible chewy (besides yak cheese and antlers) that my boy won't gag himself with. He loves bully sticks and tracheas and tendons, but he makes himself gag/almost choke when eating them, so I can no longer offer those.

Has anyone else had the same issue? Is it because he's still a puppy? Any other edible chewy's (besides nyla bones/etc) that you have had luck with?

Thanks in advance!

We give raw marrow bones and turkey necks in addition to antlers, yak sticks, and water buffalo horns.

Maple is a gulper. So I can only give her things that are too big to fully put in her mouth. When I give her chicken necks or feet I always got to hang on to them on one site and hand feed :P

I give her big marrow bones, other big meaty bones and beef hooves. Those she can take on by herself :D

Wally is like Maple, gulps everything. I find antlers to be one of the few things I can let him chew on without worrying. I'm going to look for beef hooves, I bet Wally would love those.

Do the raw marrow bones make a bloody mess everywhere?

When they're defrosting they can get a little bloody. We don't let him off the hardwood with them since we have light colored carpet. Once they're defrosted, I'd say they're relatively mess free. I've found that it helps to rinse them with warm water and get anything that's on the surface off before giving them to H.

We only give ours Nylabones and Kongs to chew on, never eatable bones, and absolutely no bully sticks, rawhides, or anything like that.

Thanks! I might have to try one out with Jax. But I will rinse them off and defrost it first! We have light carpets as well and I can guarantee Jax will not stay in the kitchen with one.

Weather permitting we usually stick him outside with one haha since he tends to roam. He also loves to chew on the bones even once they're stripped, and then they're really mess free.

If anybody ever gets raw beef hooves, DEFINITELY feed them outside. They are quite smelly :D (Comparable to Tripe ).
Other bones maple usually eats on the tiles, but it usually isnt that messy. :)
