I am a realist, but I reeeeallllly hope she's wrong and it's not cancer after all. Because she was unable to get a sample from the suspicious spot on his stomach wall, we just don't know.
On a lighter note, here's my adorable boy today, decked out for a 4th of July photo.

Thank you all again, for the continued thoughts and prayers.
I got the call today with Remy's cytology report. The enlarged lymph node showed lymphoid hyperplasia, which is a non-specific reactive response. No cancer cells were detected! However, this still does not mean that Remy doesn't have cancer. They were unable to reach the spot on his stomach wall that is suspicious. So the result is good news, but we are certainly not out of the woods yet.
Remy's appetite is much decreased and I struggle to get him to eat well. He likes shredded chicken. I can get him to eat a little steamed brown rice and canned dog food before he turns his nose up at it. Kibble is out. Last night he finished his bowl on his own with gusto, and I was so happy. Thankfully, he still loves his people snacks, like a bite of pizza crust, popcorn, a flake of my cereal, etc.
We are going to add Reglan to his list of medications, to see if it will help with the possible nausea. He already takes Cerenia and Pepcid.
Next week Friday we are scheduled to repeat Remy's chest xrays (and Dr Bennett might throw in an ultrasound for free) to make sure the pneumonia has cleared, in case we want to start him on steroid therapy. She is a bit hesitant to start him on steroids since we still don't have a real diagnosis.
We are taking each day as it comes. Remy turns 11 in nine more days. Every day with my Remy is a blessing.
